Do I need to download an app?+
No. CocoCall works directly in your browser — no downloads or installations needed. The person you're calling doesn't need anything either, they just answer their regular phone.
Does it work with my eSIM?+
Yes, perfectly. If you have a CocoRoam eSIM for data, you can use that data connection to make calls. WiFi works too — any internet connection.
How does billing work?+
You buy calling credit upfront (from £5). Minutes are deducted as you call — no monthly fee, credit doesn't expire. The only optional recurring cost is renting a virtual number.
Can people call me back?+
Yes — rent a virtual phone number in the UK (£3/mo), US or Canada (£1.95/mo). People call your virtual number like a normal phone and it rings in the app. Cancel any time. Receiving calls is a flat 2p/min from your CocoCall credit, regardless of where the caller is.
Is the call quality good?+
We use HD voice technology over the internet. With a decent connection (3G or better, or WiFi), call quality is comparable to or better than a regular phone call.
What about messaging?+
We're focused on voice calls first. For messaging, we recommend WhatsApp or iMessage over your CocoRoam data connection — they're free and work great.
