After Skype

A Skype alternative that calls real phones.

Skype closed on 5 May 2025. Teams replaced the meetings. Nobody replaced the cheap call home. CocoCall is pay-as-you-go to landlines and mobiles, in the browser, from 2p/min.

What this is, and is not.

Skype did two jobs. We only do one of them.

Questions

Is CocoCall a Skype replacement?

For Skype Credit and Skype-to-phone, yes. You dial a real landline or mobile from the browser and pay per minute. It is not a replacement for Skype meetings, video, or group chat β€” use Teams, Zoom, or FaceTime for those.

What happened to Skype?

Microsoft retired Skype on 5 May 2025 and pointed consumer users at Teams. Skype Credit and cheap PSTN calling went with it. CocoCall is built for that leftover job: calling a real phone number while you travel.

How much does a call cost?

The cheapest routes are 2p/min (US, Canada, UK landlines). India is 6p landline / 5p mobile. Germany mobile is 40p. Netherlands landline is 39p. We bill a started minute as a full minute. The published table is what the dialler charges.

Is the first call really free?

Yes β€” up to 1 minute, no card required. After that you add credit from Β£5. Credit does not expire.

Do I need an app?

No. CocoCall runs in the browser. The person you call answers their normal phone. They do not need CocoCall, Skype, or anything else.
